By Week 3, I had to move from pure conceptualisation to a strict elimination process. Having a general interest in the virtual camera was not enough; I needed to screen this topic against strict academic criteria to ensure a Literature Review was feasible. I set up a filtration strategy based on source availability: Is there enough peer-reviewed scholarship? Does it allow for critical comparison?

During this filtering stage, I actively rejected several alternative options. For instance, I initially considered reviewing literature on the impact of Generative AI on 3D animation layouts. However, I eliminated this because AI technology is too experimental, meaning there is an unstable body of peer-reviewed academic texts to support a solid review. I also rejected a topic on 3D lighting psychology because it felt too technical and lacked sufficient theoretical debate. By systematically crossing out these options, the relationship between unrestricted virtual cameras and spectator immersion stood out as the most balanced, researchable, and theoretically contested topic for this assignment.
