WEEK 19

With the final deadline approaching next week, Week 19 was dedicated to executing an essential academic validation exercise: a mini pilot test. In my independent study hours, I recognized that simply writing down a methodology on paper does not guarantee it will function seamlessly in reality. Therefore, I selected a brief, five-second sequence from The Incredibles to test the practical operational validity of my newly designed coding sheet.

This self-reflective experiment yielded crucial critical insights. While the coding matrix successfully captured camera roll and axis-crossings, I discovered that tracking background composition grids was significantly slower than anticipated due to the speed of the digital camera movement. This realization allowed me to refine the tool autonomously before final submission, slightly adjustment the parameters to focus purely on the main character’s framing rather than peripheral elements. Conducting this pilot test saved my upcoming thesis from potential structural failure and proved the vital importance of continuous testing in the research process.
